Mercury

Program Objective


Mercury is a social program specifically designed to assist young kindergarteners and Grade 1 students with ASD in developing essential social skills necessary for functioning in group settings. The primary goal of Mercury is to help learners with ASD build and strengthen their foundational social communication skills and find solutions to untangle their social challenges.

 

Self-Care Skills

  • Take care of their belongings.

Behavioural Expectations

  • Stay seated during circle time.

  • Follow the teacher's instructions as a group.

Social Skills

  • Collaborate with friends through group activities.

  • Wait for a turn and take one's turn independently.

  • Play appropriately together with peers.

  • Initiate and maintain peer interactions.

Self-Regulation

  • Exhibit self-regulation during physical or other preferred activities.

  • Take smooth transitions between activities.

Group Routine Adherence

  • Follow group routines at an age-appropriate level.

​Academic and Cognitive Development:

  • Learn executive functioning and academic skills at their age-appropriate level.

Measurement:

The program's success will be measured by observing improved social interactions, increased participation in group activities, and advancements in individualized learning goals. Regular assessments and feedback from educators, parents, and guardians will be utilized to gauge the overall progress of each participant. A report card will be given to parents by the end of the term.
