Help young children with ASD learn how to take the appropriate ‘actions’ in a group setting.

Bi-Weekly

Fun Club is a playdate group designed to gently introduce children to the enjoyment of participating in lively group activities. Meeting bi-weekly, the club offers a supported learning environment where children can practice their peer socialization and play skills through engaging, pre-planned games and activities. With an emphasis on small groups, children interact with peers of similar ages, promoting friendship and cooperation.

PLAY TIME provides opportunities for:

  • Practicing Peer Play Skills

    • Joint attention

    • Pretend play

    • Joining the play

    • Inviting to play

    • Accepting play invites

    • Respecting the choices of peers

 

CLOSE-ENDED GAME provides opportunities for:

  • Practicing Good Sportsmanship

    • Turn-taking 

    • Following game rules 

    • Handling winning and losing appropriately 

 

GROUP PROJECT provides opportunities for:

  • Practicing Group Skills

    • Being part of the group

    • Participation

    • Sharing materials

    • Resolving disagreements calmly

 

GROUP CONVERSATION / SNACK TIME provides opportunities for:

  • Practicing Social Communication Skills

    • Sharing about self 

    • Asking peers questions

    • Listening to peers

    • Making friendly comments
